Zander Stefani’s paintings, works on paper, and murals investigate the space between abstraction and representation, exploring the interaction of humanity and nature through gestural lines and forms. Working intuitively and fluidly between control and whimsy, Stefani allows his mark making to come from a subconscious place where the satisfaction of the act of painting takes precedence over the finished artwork. While playful and filled with vibrant color, there is an underlying tension and emotional complexity which permeates his work.
Stefani holds a BFA in painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design, GA. He currently lives and works in Asheville, North Carolina, where several of his murals can been seen.
